MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS)

MSDSs must be provided to employees who work with or in close proximity to hazardous substances. The following links to reputable university and other MSDS databases and search engines can be use to fulfill this important safety obligation to our employees. Layperson interpretation of MSDSs can sometimes be difficult so feel free to contact EHS/RMS (786-1351 or ayssg@uaa.alaska.edu ) for assistance. You can also refer to EHS/RMS Appendix 8, MSDS Interpretation . On occasion, you may not find a rare MSDS at these sites. If that happens, contact the manufacturer of the product to obtain one. Many manufactures maintain electronic databases of MSDSs which can be access over the web. MSDSs must be maintained in a hardcopy file or binder which is accessible to all affected employees. Electronic storage is permitted if and only if all affected employees have access to the electronic versions during their work periods and are familiar with retrieval processes.
